AT WHAT AGE IS IT BEST TO BEGIN?

The short answer is: when the student is ready and willing. Age is not a factor.

Because we begin learning music by ear, a child can start at a very young age. What I look for is the readiness or interest. 

DO WE NEED A PIANO TO BEGIN LESSONS ?

Yes. To be successful it is important to practice daily, so having a piano in your home is essential. 

CAN WE START WITH AN ELECTRIC PIANO IF WE ALREADY HAVE ONE ?

If you already have an electric piano with weighted keys, it is possible to begin with that. Before you complete Book 1, however, you will find that there is enough difference in the touch of electric piano and a regular piano that you will really need an acoustic piano to be able to practice well. 

IF WE ARE PURCHASING A PIANO, COULD WE BEGIN WITH AN ELECTRIC PIANO OR DO WE NEED TO PURCHASE AN ACOUSTIC ONE ?

It is always best to learn on the best instrument that you can afford. 

If you do not have an electric piano, it would be best to not waste your money on one, but purchase a good used piano. As a support for my students, I always offer to go to music stores to try out the various options and help you get the best piano in your price range. There are many used pianos that are available to start with and later upgrade if desired. Often you can get what you paid for the original piano, so think of it as a down payment. 

WHAT KIND OF PIANO DO WE PLAY ON IN YOUR STUDIO ?

I have a 7' Steinway Grand Piano, so you will get an opportunity to train on an excellent instrument.

HOW OFTEN DO WE COME FOR LESSONS ?

It is best to come weekly to lessons, so that the progress remains steady.
